The Advanced Placement Program (AP) is a rigorous academic program built on the commitment, passion, and hard work of students and educators. McMinn County High School offers 14 different AP courses and will be adding 3 new additional courses for the 2020-2021 school year.

 

BENEFITS OF TAKING AP COURSES

§  May earn college credit upon successful score on AP exam & out-of-state colleges more likely to accept credit.

§  Rigor & exposure to college level course work

§  Recognition: Distinction & TN Ready

§  Additional points (5) to 9-weeks grade and semester exam grade if student takes AP exam.

§  Additional Quality Pride Point value (.025) for a passing grade per semester is added to a student’s final weighted grade point average if student takes AP exam. (Student may only receive Quality Pride points for up to 14 semesters of combined EPSO courses. Please refer to school board policy 4.602.)

§  Affordable. The exam fee is $94. Fee waivers and fee reductions are available to qualifying students.
