Announcment for June 3rd

“Due to current conditions surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic and out of an abundance of caution the Tennessee Higher Education Commission/Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation (THEC/TSAC) has made the decision to waive the July 1 community service requirement. A Tennessee Promise student enrolling at an eligible institution for the fall 2020 term will not be required to complete and submit community service to maintain eligibility.”

Seniors, please check your email for important information regarding TN Promise, Honors/Distinction verification, and final transcripts.

  • Please remember to complete the TN Promise Webinar meeting by May 15th. This webinar is only 37 minutes long. Link:
  • Honors and Distinction Lists: Please check your email from Mrs. Fowler. If you have any concerns or questions, you may email her. 
  • Final Transcripts will not be mailed out to colleges/universities/technical schools until the last week of May. We will email your final transcript to the school you listed on your senior exit form. 
    • If you have not completed the senior exit form, please go to this link:
  • You can also email Mrs. Fowler and tell her where to send your final transcript if you have issues accessing the senior exit form.

Virtual Community Service Opportunities for TN Promise Applicants  6/3/2020 COMMUNITY SERVICE IS NOT REQUIRED FOR THE FALL 2020 TERM. 

One of the requirements for the TN Promise scholarship is for students to complete 8 hours of community service prior to the start of the college semester. Seniors, your deadline to complete these hours for the Fall semester is JULY 1st . If you still need to complete your hours, please go to the following link and follow the instructions on how to do this virtually:   

College Planning Webinar: On Friday, April 17 at 10:00 a.m. CST,  Jason Seay will lead a webinar for college-going families and counselors regarding the FAFSA verification process and reviewing financial aid offers from prospective colleges.  Please click on this link:


  • Cleveland State will have a recruitment event on Facebook on Tuesday, April 14th, at 6 PM. They will answer questions and communicate with students about their next steps in higher education, including the TN Promise. Go to their Recruitment page: to view this event. 
  • The Cleveland State Foundation still has scholarship opportunities. Please complete the scholarship application through your CougarNet account. 

Seniors, Please continue with your college/career planning and check out this page and the Financial Aid & Scholarships page regularly for updates. You can still apply for scholarships! As we get updates, we will post them here & email you on your school email.

Academics: Please check your grades on your StudentVue account. If you are failing any courses, please reach out to your teachers or your school counselor. 

Credit Recovery: If you cannot access Plato, please let contact Mrs. Fowler, Mrs. Newton, or Mr. Slack ( You may work on Plato anytime of the day.

Have you applied to college/technical school or for scholarships?

  • You can still apply. Please visit the college/university/technical school website to see about deadlines, online application, and other information.
  • Check out the financial aid & scholarships page to find scholarship information. Make sure you complete applications by the deadline.
  • If you need a recommendation letter, provide the recommender a copy of your brag sheet and high school resume & give him/her at least 2 weeks to get the letter prepared. (Brag sheet form:

Are you military or career bound?

  • Contact your military advisor with any questions and concerns.
  • Have you completed the job application? Make sure you visit the company’s website for information or contact the company’s human resource department.
  • Are you looking for a job? You can search for jobs online, in the newspaper, on social media, or ask your family and friends. (Make sure that it is a legitimate business or online job resource before providing personal information.)

Are you on track for graduation?

  • Check your grades on StudentVue. 
  • Contact your teacher(s) if you have concerns or want to create a plan to get back on track.
  • Continue to complete assignments and submit them to your teacher. 
  • Contact your counselor if you have questions about your credits, credit recovery, and summer school options.
